Poland launches central e-registration for endocrinologist appointments amid long waits

Patients in Poland will soon find it easier to book their first endocrinologist appointments through the national health service (NFZ). Starting August 1, 2026, a new central e-registration system will be available, allowing individuals to compare appointment times across various clinics nationwide.

This initiative aims to tackle the significant waiting times currently plaguing the system. As of July 25, 2026, the average wait for an endocrinologist is 207 days, with some regions facing much longer delays. The Zachodniopomorskie and Dolnośląskie voivodeships report the longest queues, with patients waiting an average of 426 and 414 days, respectively.

The central e-registration will be accessible online via the Internetowe Konto Pacjenta (IKP) or the mojeIKP app. Traditional methods like phone calls or in-person registration will also be supported, with clinic staff entering requests into the central system. The system will also offer appointment reminders and a waiting list feature, automatically booking patients if an earlier slot becomes available that matches their preferences.

Endocrinology is one of eight new specialties being integrated into the central e-registration. Previously, patients had to contact multiple clinics individually to find available appointments. The new system centralizes this information, potentially reducing unused appointment slots and making it easier for patients to secure faster consultations, even outside their immediate locality.
