Poland proposes minimum wage of 4,950 złoty gross from Jan. 1, 2027

Poland’s minimum wage could rise to 4,950 złoty gross on Jan. 1, 2027, under a draft regulation already sent to the Council of Ministers for consideration. The proposed minimum hourly rate would increase to 32.30 złoty.

The draft, submitted by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, was published on Monday by the Government Legislation Centre. The current minimum monthly wage stands at 4,806 złoty gross, while the minimum hourly rate is 31.40 złoty. Officials estimate that 1.58 million people would be covered by the increase.

The proposed amounts match figures presented earlier this year to the Social Dialogue Council for negotiation. The council, which brings together workers, employers and the government, failed to reach an agreement. Trade unions sought an increase to at least 5,200 złoty, while employers maintained that any rise should not exceed the government’s proposal.

Under the rules, if the council does not agree on the minimum wage and hourly rate within the statutory period, the Council of Ministers sets the amounts by regulation by Sept. 15. The government cannot set figures lower than those previously proposed to the council.

Poland’s minimum wage has risen by 3,056 złoty over the past decade, from 1,750 złoty in 2015. It increased twice in both 2023 and 2024 because inflation rules required changes in January and July when the forecast consumer-price index reached at least 105%. The wage rose to 3,490 złoty in January 2023 and 3,600 złoty in July, then to 4,242 złoty and 4,300 złoty in 2024. It reached 4,666 złoty in 2025 and 4,806 złoty in 2026.
