Poland's mObywatel App Users Must Update Digital Documents by August 5, 2026

Polish citizens using the mObywatel mobile application are urged to log in before August 5, 2026, to ensure their digital documents remain valid. The Ministry of Digital Affairs is conducting an update of document certificates within the app, a process designed to extend their validity.

Users who fail to log in by the specified deadline will find their digital documents, including the mDowód (Poland's digital identity document) and temporary protection documents, expire. For those who have logged in before their current certificate expires, the renewal process will happen automatically. The status and expiry date of the mDowód certificate can be checked within the app's menu.

For individuals whose documents expire due to non-compliance, restoring validity will require identity verification using an e-dowód, a trusted profile, or online banking. The Ministry also reminds parents that children using the mObywatel Junior app must also log in by August 5, 2026, to keep their documents active. Similarly, students needing to use their digital student ID within the mObywatel app must follow a specific procedure involving their university's dean's office to obtain a new QR code for reactivation.
