Poland to introduce 'Business and Management' exam for 2027 high school leaving certificate

Poland's high school students will face a new challenge in 2027 with the introduction of the 'Business and Management' exam as an advanced-level subject for their final matriculation tests. This subject, which replaced basic entrepreneurship in 2023, is now making its debut on the national exam.

The exam, scheduled for May 21, 2027, will grant students 180 minutes to complete and offers a maximum of 50 points. While a simple calculator will be permitted, the focus will be on analytical skills rather than rote memorization. The Central Examination Commission (CKE) has designed the test to include both closed-ended questions, such as multiple-choice and true-false, and open-ended tasks requiring calculations and short answers.

A key feature of the new exam is the "bundle of tasks" format, where students will analyze provided materials, including tables, charts, economic scenarios, and texts, to answer several related questions. This approach aims to test students' ability to apply their knowledge in practical situations, moving beyond simply recalling definitions. The curriculum covers a broad range of topics, including market economies, business operations, finance, and the government's role in the economy, emphasizing data interpretation and conclusion drawing.

This shift signifies a move towards evaluating students' practical understanding of economic and business principles, preparing them for future economic and entrepreneurial challenges. The first exams for technical and vocational school graduates will take place a year later.
