Polar Research Institute Seeks Companies for New Incheon Research Center

The Korea Polar Research Institute is inviting companies and organizations with polar technologies or ideas to apply for space at its commercialization center in Songdo, Incheon. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 18.

The recruitment targets prospective founders, startups, small and medium-sized businesses planning ventures based on polar samples or data, and corporations or organizations that support polar research. Two applicants will be selected after presentations and evaluations of their business plans.

Tenants will receive independent business space and access to the center’s specialized facilities. These include a polar-environment reproduction facility, an ultra-low-temperature room, a polar organism culture room, and a bio-production and analysis laboratory. The institute also offers opportunities for tailored technical cooperation with its researchers.

The tenancy period is three years, with a possible two-year extension following an evaluation. Tenants that install their own research and production facilities can remain for up to seven years. The move-in date will be set through consultation after selection, with occupancy possible from Oct. 19 onward.

The institute described the center as an industry, academia and research collaboration platform designed to connect polar research results with private-sector ideas and turn them into commercial ventures. It said it hopes companies and prospective founders interested in developing new possibilities in the polar field will participate.
