Police appeal for 15yo boy to come forward after fatal Gosford stabbing

New South Wales police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Mann Street in Gosford on the evening of July 28, 2026. A 22-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds and later died in Gosford Hospital despite receiving treatment at the scene from paramedics.

Superintendent Darryl Jobson of the Brisbane Water Police District has appealed for a 15-year-old boy to come forward. Police believe this teenager can significantly assist with their investigation. The boy was last seen heading north on Mann Street and is described as being 175 centimeters tall with a medium build and dark, short hair. He was reportedly wearing shorts and a vest.

Authorities have emphasized that the incident is not considered random. Police believe the victim and the 15-year-old boy were known to each other, and consequently, there is no perceived threat to the broader community. We'd call upon that young male to contact police so we can safely bring him into police custody to continue with our inquiries.

Investigators are working to locate the weapon, believed to be a knife with a 15-centimeter blade, which has not yet been recovered. Police have identified several witnesses and have taken statements. Preliminary findings suggest both individuals involved may have boarded the same bus shortly before the incident occurred, though they did not appear to be traveling together.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the 15-year-old boy or any details about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
