Police arrest 10 suspected criminals in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended 10 individuals implicated in various criminal activities, including armed robbery and violent confrontations over land disputes across the state. The suspects were paraded at the command headquarters by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Felix Ohagwu.

Following a painstaking intelligence-led operation by operatives of the command. The arrest was made in connection with an armed robbery case initially reported on 14th June, 2026, at Iju Division, Ita-Ogbolu, Akure North Local Government Area.

Ohagwu detailed that the arrests were made following an intelligence-led operation targeting an armed robbery syndicate. The operation stemmed from a report on June 14, 2026, at the Iju Division, concerning a robbery case. Operatives intercepted five suspects traveling in a Mercedes-Benz SUV, recovering dangerous weapons. Preliminary investigations suggest these individuals are part of a notorious syndicate known for violent robberies throughout Ondo State and are currently assisting investigators in tracking down other fleeing members.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate that has been on the command’s watchlist for alleged involvement in violent robberies across Ondo State.

In a separate incident, seven other suspects were arrested following a violent clash over a land dispute in the Kajola area of Odigbo Local Government. The confrontation occurred on July 18, 2026, at a farmland involving parties to an ongoing land case before the High Court in Ore. Both parties reportedly arrived with supporters, including commercial motorcycle riders and individuals alleged to be soldiers, leading to a violent altercation where injuries were sustained.

The information provided is currently assisting investigators in tracking down other fleeing members of the gang and uncovering the full extent of their operations.

Weapons recovered from all suspects include guns, charms, and cutlasses. The Commissioner of Police stated that all arrested individuals will be charged to court upon the completion of ongoing investigations into their respective cases.

The incident occurred on Saturday, 18th July, 2026, at about 9:30 a.m., at a farmland in Adegbiji, via Kajola, Ondo State. Preliminary investigation revealed that the dispute involved Akinsulu Titus and Ajani Abiodun, both of Ayetoro via Kajola, who are parties to an ongoing land matter before the High Court sitting in Ore.
