Police arrest father, son, recover four firearms in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has arrested five individuals, including a father and his son, in connection with theft and illegal possession of firearms. The coordinated operations across various divisions yielded four weapons: one locally made pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, and two dane guns, along with a live cartridge and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at N180,000.

Operatives of Afon Division arrested a father and his son, Fatai Adegbola ‘m’ and Waliu Adegbola ‘m’, aged 23 years, following a report of stealing received on 22/05/2026 at about 1930hrs. The suspect, Waliu Adegbola, was alleged to have stolen a Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000 from a residential apartment on 08/05/2026.

The Afon Division apprehended Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu Adegbola, after a theft report. Waliu was accused of stealing the N180,000 phone from a residence on May 8, 2026. A subsequent search of their home, conducted under a warrant, uncovered the locally made pistol and a dane gun.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives tracked and recovered the stolen phone. Subsequently, a search of the suspects’ residence, conducted pursuant to a duly obtained warrant, led to the discovery of a locally made pistol and a dane gun allegedly concealed within the premises.

In separate operations, the Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol and a live cartridge during a routine patrol on May 27, 2026. The firearm was found abandoned and has been secured for further investigation into its origin. The Ode Remo Division also arrested Inioluwa Adesanya, 25, for allegedly stealing a dane gun belonging to a local resident.

Operatives of Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout on 27/05/2026 at about 0730hrs. The item was discovered abandoned and immediately secured by the patrol team.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseye, confirmed the arrests and recoveries in a press release shared via X.com. The police emphasized that investigations are ongoing to determine the ownership and source of the seized weapons.
