Police arrest Lagos man over alleged defilement of stepdaughter

Authorities in Lagos State have arrested a 38-year-old man, identified only as Michael, on suspicion of repeatedly defiling his 13-year-old stepdaughter. The arrest occurred in the Agege area of the state on Sunday, following a report filed by the victim's biological father.

Sources close to the community indicated that the young girl had allegedly been subjected to sexual abuse by her stepfather, with whom she resided. She had reportedly run away from home on multiple occasions before confiding in her biological father about the alleged abuse.

Upon receiving the report, the police in Ketu initiated an investigation, which led not only to the stepfather's detention but also to the arrest of a second suspect described by the police as the victim's "boyfriend."

Confirming the arrests, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, stated that both suspects are in custody. The victim has been taken for medical examination and will be transferred to the Mirabel Centre for further assessment and investigation. The police confirmed that the case was reported on Sunday evening.
