27-year-old man arrested for defiling teenager in Ondo

Ondo State Police have arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, in connection with the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area. The arrest followed a report by the victim’s guardian to the Odigbo Divisional Police Station.

Preliminary investigation revealed that on 2nd August 2026, the guardian of the victim reported at the police station that the 15-year-old girl, who was working as a domestic help in her household, had on several occasions left home without permission.

The guardian reported that the teenage girl, who worked as a domestic help, had been leaving home without permission. When questioned, the girl allegedly revealed that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s home, where he engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with her. The case was transferred to the Gender Based Offences Unit for a discreet investigation.

According to the report, when the girl was questioned about where she usually went whenever she left home, she allegedly disclosed that the suspect, Solomon Onaola, had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

Police operatives arrested the suspect after preliminary investigations. The victim is under appropriate care, and the police are taking necessary steps in line with procedures for alleged sexual offenses against minors. The Commissioner of Police has directed a thorough investigation to establish facts and ensure justice. The command reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspected abuse cases.
