Police arrest man for assaulting golf caddy in Lampung

Police have arrested a 38-year-old man, identified as FP, in connection with the alleged assault of a golf caddy at the Modern Golf club in Tangerang, Banten. The suspect was apprehended on Friday, June 26, at his residence in Kemiling, Bandar Lampung, following an investigation by the Tangerang City Metro Police.

The incident, which reportedly took place on Tuesday, June 23, at approximately 7:51 PM in the Modern Golf area, escalated after an argument between the suspect and the caddy. According to police, the motive stemmed from jealousy after the suspect allegedly asked a golf marshal to buy him a drink and the marshal responded with a phrase that the caddy overheard and took offense to.

This exchange led to a verbal altercation that culminated in the alleged physical assault. Police have since named FP as a suspect. The Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Raden Muhammad Jauhari, stated that the swift action was a response to public reports and viral social media videos. He emphasized that violence is never justifiable and all criminal acts will be processed according to law.

In addition to the legal proceedings, the management of Modern Golf & Country Club has issued a permanent ban against FP. A formal decision declared him persona non grata, prohibiting his access to the club and all its facilities. The club has revoked all of FP's playing rights.
