Police investigate alleged sexual violence by suspect in three-year captivity case

West Java Police are investigating allegations of sexual violence against Taufik Hidayat, who is accused of holding his girlfriend captive and torturing her for three years in a Bandung boarding house. Police are still gathering information and awaiting the victim's recovery to obtain a complete statement. "We are digging, we are investigating," said Head of Public Relations for West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Besar Hendra Rochmawan, on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The victim, identified as YTR, 29, reportedly suffered severe injuries all over her body. The case gained public attention after her family, who had lost contact with her for three years, learned she was hospitalized. Police formed a joint task force, led by the Directorate of Women and Child Protection and Combating Human Trafficking, to thoroughly investigate the case. Hidayat, 30, was arrested in Majalaya, Bandung, after being a fugitive for over two weeks. He had reportedly fled to Tangerang, Banten, but returned to Bandung. Police tracked his online transactions to locate him and stated no other individuals were involved in his escape.
