Police arrest man for attempting to murder girlfriend in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended Musa Adamu, a 35-year-old man, for allegedly perpetrating a violent attack on his girlfriend, which included attempted strangulation and robbery. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 9, 2026, in Gombe.

According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Police Public Relations Officer, the victim reported that Adamu unlawfully entered her residence by scaling a fence and breaking into her room. He is accused of assaulting her with an iron hammer and attempting to strangle her with a USB cable before stealing ₦100,000. The suspect fled the scene when the victim managed to raise an alarm.

A swift investigation led to Adamu's arrest later that same day, with police recovering an iron hammer believed to be bloodstained and the USB cable used in the assault.
