Preliminary investigations reveal that Ubong Michael has been a central figure in several high-profile kidnapping incidents, including the abductions of Gabriel in 2023 and John in 2025. His arrest, following credible intelligence that he had returned to the community after hiding in Port Harcourt, demonstrates the police's persistent pursuit of wanted criminals. On April 22, 2026, at about 1700hrs, operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly mobilised to Ikot Aka Village in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, where one Ubong Michael, also known as ‘Ubong Boy’ (male, 30 years), was apprehended.

Commissioner of Police Baba Azare commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift, intelligence-driven response. He reiterated the command's unwavering commitment to eradicating violent crime from Akwa Ibom State, sending a clear warning to criminal elements that the state will remain a hostile environment for them. A search conducted upon his arrest led to the recovery of the following exhibits: one human skull (suspected to belong to a victim), one human bone, two live cartridges and one dagger.
