The alleged attack occurred on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, around 11:30 a.m. along Adeniji Estate, Apata, Ibadan. According to police reports, the suspect, Shafiu Nuhu, posed as a passenger before assaulting the motorcyclist, Muhammadu Kamilu, with an iron hammer. The victim was subsequently dispossessed of his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.

Acting promptly on the actionable intelligence, operatives of the Command Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) were immediately deployed to the scene. Their swift intervention culminated in the arrest of the suspect, Shafiu Nuhu, and the recovery of the stolen Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number AJW 842 QU, as well as the iron hammer allegedly used in perpetrating the attack.

Operatives from the command's Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) acted swiftly on intelligence provided by a concerned citizen. Their rapid deployment to the scene led to the apprehension of Nuhu and the recovery of the stolen Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, identified by registration number AJW 842 QU.
