Police arrest suspect in assault on professor, phone smashing incident

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Serbia in connection with an assault on professor and director Stevan Filipović. The suspect, identified as L.D., faces charges of violent conduct for allegedly snatching Filipović's phone and smashing it on the asphalt.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to participating in the incident as accused. Given that he has no prior convictions and a registered residence, prosecutors decided he would defend himself from freedom. The prosecution did not request pretrial detention.

However, police are still searching for two other individuals believed to have physically assaulted Filipović, inflicting multiple injuries. The attack reportedly occurred after Filipović began photographing and filming a group of men spray-painting messages on a protected building. Surveillance footage of the incident has been obtained.
