Police arrest suspect in brutal fish seller murder in Gowa

Authorities in Gowa, South Sulawesi, have apprehended a 57-year-old man, identified by the initials JL, in connection with the brutal murder of a 60-year-old fish seller named SL. The incident occurred in Desa Pannyangkalang, Kecamatan Bajeng.

The perpetrator himself, we have secured him and he is now at the Police Station for further security.

According to the Head of the Bajeng Police, AKP Wahab, the victim was allegedly followed by the perpetrator from the Bajeng area. A confrontation ensued between JL and SL, escalating into a violent attack. JL reportedly used a sharp weapon, inflicting severe injuries on SL, including wounds to the back of the neck, right hand, and head, resulting in the victim's death at the scene.

Both the victim and the suspect were known to be itinerant fish sellers operating in the same region. Police believe the motive behind the fatal stabbing was a long-standing personal grudge that JL harbored against SL. "The information is that there was indeed a grudge between the perpetrator and the victim before. It's an old issue," Wahab stated.

So, the victim and the perpetrator were both fish sellers. The victim was allegedly followed from the Bajeng area and there was an argument before the incident. The perpetrator slashed him until he died on the spot.

Following the incident, the Reskrim team from Bajeng Polres arrived at the scene and arrested JL, seizing a machete as evidence. The victim's body was evacuated to the Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar for an autopsy. The event has caused distress among local residents, with the victim's family reportedly expressing intense grief upon seeing the body.
