Police arrest suspected robber in Lagos, recover pistol

Police in Lagos State have apprehended a suspected armed robber and seized a locally made pistol and assorted charms. The arrest took place in the Igando area during a routine patrol, according to a statement from the Lagos State Police Command.

As part of the sustained efforts against crime and criminality across Lagos State, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally fabricated pistol as well as assorted charms during a routine patrol in Igando area of the State.

Operatives on patrol became suspicious of a motorcycle carrying three men. When police attempted to stop them, the suspects tried to flee. One individual, identified as Olajunja Segun Samson, 29, was caught, but his two accomplices escaped, abandoning the motorcycle.

The arrest was made when a Police patrol team sighted a motorcycle conveying three male occupants behaving suspiciously.

A search of the apprehended suspect and the abandoned motorcycle yielded the pistol and charms. The suspect is in custody, and authorities are intensifying efforts to locate the fleeing accomplices. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

On sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee. One of the suspects, Olajunja Segun Samson ‘m’ 29 years, was apprehended, while the two other suspects escaped, abandoning the motorcycle.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the officers for their vigilance and professionalism. He reassured residents of the command's commitment to combating violent crime and urged the public to provide timely information to aid crime prevention and the apprehension of criminals.
