NSCDC arrests four for vandalism in Jigawa

Authorities in Jigawa State, Nigeria, have arrested four individuals suspected of vandalizing and stealing aluminum roofing sheets from the School of Nursing in Hadejia. Operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended the suspects during a routine surveillance operation aimed at protecting critical national assets.

The suspects were intercepted during routine surveillance as part of the Corps’ mandate to safeguard Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

The suspects were intercepted behind the school's perimeter fence and found in possession of 13 square meters of aluminum roofing sheets. These materials are believed to have been removed from ongoing renovation works at the institution.

During the operation, the suspects were found in possession of thirteen square metres of aluminum roofing sheets suspected to have been removed from the ongoing renovation works at the institution.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Adamu Mohd, a school security guard; Dan Inu Mohd, a carpenter; Isma’ila Adamu, a tricycle rider; and Bashari Yahaya, an apprentice. Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the suspects was part of the school's security personnel, raising concerns about internal security vulnerabilities.

This development has exposed a significant security lapse within the institution’s internal security architecture.

In response, the NSCDC has alerted the School of Nursing's management to the identified security gap and advised them to enhance their internal security systems to prevent future incidents. The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to combating vandalism and protecting public infrastructure across the state.
