Police arrest two armed robbery suspects in Adamawa

Adamawa State Police have apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery incidents within the Yola-North Local Government Area.

On 3rd June 2026, police operatives arrested one Idris Auwal, 22 years old, a resident of Doubeli Culvert, Yola North Local Government Area.

According to a statement from the command's spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, operatives from the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters made the arrests in connection with separate criminal activities. The first suspect, 22-year-old Idris Auwal, is accused of conspiring with three currently at-large accomplices to break into a shop owned by Abdullahi Sunusi. During the alleged break-in, the suspects reportedly carted away a bag containing cash, important documents, and various shop provisions.

In a separate incident, police arrested another suspect identified as a member of the "Shilla gang," known for targeting citizens for their valuables. This suspect allegedly attacked Abubakar Abdullahi near Doubeli Bypass armed with a cutlass, robbing him of an Itel mobile phone and N19,000 in cash. The victim sustained head injuries during the attack.

In a similar incident on 5th June 2026, operatives of Doubeli Division arrested another suspected Shilla gang member who specializes in attacking and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables.

Items recovered from the suspects include a cutlass, a knife, and the stolen mobile phone. Both suspects are currently under investigation, and police are intensifying efforts to apprehend their fleeing accomplices. The command urged the public to continue providing information to aid in combating crime and enhancing public safety.

Fortunately, police operatives swiftly responded to the scene, arrested the suspect, and ensured the victim received immediate medical attention.
