Police arrest two over burglary after stolen iPhone sells for N25,000

An iPhone 12 allegedly taken during a burglary in Osun State changed hands for just N25,000, police said after arresting two men linked to the case.

The Osun State Police Command said valuables worth an estimated N3 million were stolen from a residence on July 26, 2026. The haul allegedly included an HP laptop, a Dell laptop, the iPhone 12, an Android phone, two power banks and recharge cards.

Police arrested 27-year-old Eyelade Anuoluwa in Ibadan, Oyo State, after intelligence gathered by officers attached to the Ilesa Area Command. The command said Anuoluwa was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, where he allegedly confessed to the burglary and disclosed that some of the stolen property had been transferred to a receiver in Ibadan.

Consequently, Police operatives from SCID embarked on an intelligence-led operation which resulted in the arrest of one of the receivers, Abdullah Musa’m’ aged 28 years, in Ibadan.

An intelligence-led operation then led to the arrest of 28-year-old Abdullah Musa’m’. Police said Musa confessed to receiving stolen property and told investigators he had bought the iPhone 12 from Anuoluwa for N25,000. The command said he was being investigated over alleged involvement in a syndicate dealing in stolen goods.

Officers recovered an HP laptop, a Dell laptop, a small Samsung phone, a mini DP charger, two power banks, an Apple iPad with 16GB of storage and a scrap phone. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura praised the officers’ work. Police said the investigation would continue to identify others linked to the crime and recover more property, with the suspects to be charged after the inquiry ends.
