Police boost security at Pan-Atlantic University after viral forest video

The Lagos State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University in Lekki, following the circulation of a viral video depicting two masked individuals emerging from a forest adjacent to the campus. The move highlights the command's commitment to proactive security measures in educational institutions.

Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, personally led operational personnel to the university. During his visit, he met with the university's management, stressing the critical need to continuously reinforce the institution's security architecture. He provided advice on practical steps to enhance security across all areas of the university and cautioned against internal actions that could compromise existing security efforts.

In response to the concerns, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has deployed surveillance drones, facilitated by the Lagos State Government. These drones are intended to bolster aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention capabilities within and around the university's premises. The Commissioner assured stakeholders, including management, staff, students, and parents, of the Command's steadfast dedication to protecting lives and property throughout Lagos State.

Further recommendations for immediate preventive upgrades at the institution include improving perimeter security, enhancing access control systems, and maintaining close collaboration with all relevant security agencies. The police command reiterated its broader commitment to maintaining peace, public safety, and security across the state, urging residents to cooperate by providing information through the designated emergency lines.
