Police Chase in Diepholz Ends in Three Accidents, Multiple Injuries

A dangerous police pursuit in Germany's Diepholz district resulted in three separate accidents, minor injuries, and significant property damage. The incident began when a driver ignored police signals to stop in Hüde and fled at high speed.

The chase extended through Lemförde and Stemwede before concluding in Bohmte, where police finally managed to halt the fleeing vehicle. During the pursuit, the fleeing car, three police patrol cars, and a truck trailer sustained damage. Three officers were treated for minor injuries, as were the two occupants of the car who were eventually apprehended.

Authorities are investigating the incident, with charges potentially including illegal motor vehicle racing, endangering road traffic, negligent bodily harm, and license plate theft. The ownership of the vehicle is still under investigation, and the license plates were confirmed to be stolen. The two arrested individuals, a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were released shortly after. A third passenger escaped on foot into a cornfield and a nearby wooded area, prompting an unsuccessful search involving a police helicopter and dogs.
