Police close in on Eldar Dayan's final moments after suspect begins providing information

Investigators are making significant progress in the murder investigation of Eldar Dayan, whose remains were discovered on Thursday in an open area near Yarkon Junction, Petah Tikva. The location is approximately 50 meters from the gas station where Dayan was last seen on July 18.

Two suspects arrested in connection with the case had their detention extended by seven days. After initially exercising their right to remain silent, they have begun cooperating with investigators. Police officials expressed optimism, stating, "In the coming days, we will know exactly what happened in the final moments of the late Eldar Dayan."

The formal murder investigation is underway at the Sharon District Central Unit. Investigators are working to reconstruct the timeline of events leading to Dayan's disappearance. They are examining two motorcycle helmets and the vehicle the three men had traveled in, which was found abandoned with its license plates removed. Forensic results from the National Center of Forensic Medicine are pending to determine the cause and time of death, as well as to identify crucial evidence.
