Police Commission Deploys Eight Commissioners, Appoints New Academy Commandant

The Police Service Commission has approved significant personnel changes, deploying eight Commissioners of Police to different state commands and appointing Assistant Inspector-General Auwal Mohammed as the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano. These decisions, made during a commission meeting, follow the promotion of previous commissioners and are intended to meet operational demands across the affected states.

CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo will now serve in Abia State, CP Ayodeji Faniyan in Plateau, CP Saka Ajao in Bayelsa, CP Ajo Ordue in Cross River, CP Nnanna Ama in Anambra, CP Patrick Daaor in Edo, CP Tijani Murtala in Jigawa, and CP Samuel Etaifo in Delta State. The commission stated that these postings are crucial for sustaining operational exigencies.

Before their new assignments, the deployed officers held various key positions. Olutokunbo was previously Commissioner of Police for Administration, Training and Development; Faniyan headed Administration at the Police Cooperative in Lagos; Ajao was CP Administration at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe; Ordue served as Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL, Abuja; Ama was CP Intelligence; and Daaor was CP Administration at the Force Intelligence Department, Abuja.

The postings follow promotions of former CPs and are aimed at sustaining operational exigencies.

In addition to the state command deployments, AIG Mohammed's appointment as Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy was confirmed. The commission highlighted his extensive experience, with over 33 years in policing, covering operations, investigations, intelligence-led policing, and training. His previous roles include Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zones 3 and 6. Mohammed holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Bayero University and is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

During the commission's meeting, the presiding commissioner, retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, urged the newly deployed officers to uphold professionalism, the rule of law, and neutrality in their duties.
