Police debunk reports of bandit attack in Ebonyi community

Ebonyi State Police have firmly refuted claims circulating on social media that the Nguzu Edda Community was attacked by bandits. The command's spokesman, Joshua Ukandu, issued a statement on Monday dismissing the reports as false and misleading, designed to incite unnecessary panic among residents.

Following the viral video and alleged reports, the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi, Urunwa Okafor, immediately ordered the local Divisional Police Officer to verify the claims. Simultaneously, tactical teams from the command headquarters were deployed to the affected area for an on-site assessment. Security operatives conducted an extensive search and combing operation in the surrounding bushes and areas.

Mr. Ukandu categorically stated that no bandits or herders were found in the Nguzu Edda Community. He urged residents and the public to disregard the misinformation, labeling it as the work of individuals seeking to disrupt the prevailing peace. The police command reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Ebonyi, assuring residents that robust security measures are in place. They also advised the public to verify information through official channels before sharing it on social media.
