Police Deny Criminalizing Former Deputy National Police Chief Oegroseno Amid Corruption Probe

Indonesia's anti-corruption task force is investigating allegations of corruption related to land procurement for the Women's Police School (Sepolwan) in Ciputat, South Jakarta, and for replacement land in Lembang, Bandung Regency. The investigation covers the period between 2010 and 2014.

Head of Operations for the Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor), Commissioner General Ahmad Yusuf Afandi, confirmed the investigation is ongoing. He stated that the purpose of a preliminary investigation is to determine whether a criminal act has occurred, urging patience and promising updates once findings are made. The investigation has gained significant attention because it reportedly involves former Deputy National Police Chief, Commissioner General (Ret.) Oegroseno.

Oegroseno has publicly accused the Kortastipidkor of criminalizing him after receiving a summons for clarification. He shared a video on July 17, 2026, expressing his concerns. However, Yusuf Afandi firmly denied these accusations, assuring that all law enforcement actions by the Kortastipidkor are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The determination of suspects must prioritize the presumption of innocence. Do not use the presumption of guilt. This is regulated in the new Criminal Procedure Code, Law Number 20 of 2025 Article 91.

Oegroseno questioned the basis of his summons, which was based on an information report dated June 30, 2026. He specifically asked whether the investigation had been supported by audits from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), Financial Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), or the Internal Affairs Division of the National Police (Irwasum Polri). He also questioned why policies made over 15 years ago were now being investigated as potential corruption, demanding clarity on the specific criminal acts and the alleged state losses.
