Police Fined Tourists on Śnieżka Mountain

Hundreds of tourists seeking a sunrise spectacle on Śnieżka mountain found their romantic experience interrupted by an early morning enforcement operation. Around 500 people had gathered on the peak, located on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic, in the early hours of August 11. Their vigil for the dawn was met with a surprise inspection by law enforcement and park officials.

Shortly after 3 a.m., police officers, accompanied by rangers from both the Polish and Czech national parks, arrived on the mountain. The joint operation aimed to check the status of the individuals present. The gathering, while motivated by the desire to witness the sunrise, occurred without the necessary permits or adherence to park regulations, particularly concerning overnight stays or unauthorized presence during restricted hours.

As a result of the inspection, numerous fines were issued to the tourists. The operation underscores the authorities' commitment to enforcing park rules, even in pursuit of natural beauty. While the sunrise may have been spectacular, the experience for many ended with a penalty, highlighting the importance of respecting designated park guidelines.
