Police foil bandit attack in Sokoto, kill one, recover AK-47

The Sokoto State Police Command successfully thwarted an attack on Daraye Village in Wamako Local Government Area, neutralizing one suspected bandit and recovering an AK-47 rifle with live ammunition. The operation unfolded in the early hours of Saturday after security operatives responded to a distress call reporting a large group of heavily armed bandits invading the community.

According to a statement issued by DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, the Police Public Relations Officer, the distress call was received at approximately 1:35 a.m. on July 4. This prompted the immediate deployment of specialized units, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Village Crime Reduction Unit, to reinforce local officers. The operatives engaged the attackers in a prolonged and fierce gun battle.
