Police intensify manhunt for two armed robbery suspects in Delta

Delta State police have stepped up a manhunt for two armed robbery suspects after a 48-year-old man fought back during an attack at his home in Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The suspects allegedly broke into the residence near Charlisco on the NPA Express Road on Friday at about 5:30 p.m. Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said the masked men were armed with a locally made gun and had been terrorising the community.

According to Edafe, the victim wrestled with the suspect carrying the firearm and broke the weapon during the struggle. The second suspect then struck him on the forehead before both men escaped, leaving the damaged gun behind.

The incident was reported the same day at the Ekpan Police Division. The divisional police officer deployed operatives to the scene, where they recovered the firearm, while the injured man was referred to a hospital for treatment.

Edafe quoted Delta Commissioner of Police Samuel Erale as praising the victim’s courage and assuring residents that officers would track down and arrest the suspects. Erale also asked members of the public to provide information that could help police prevent crimes in the state.
