Police investigate killing of 38-year-old man in Puntas de Manga shooting

A 38-year-old man was killed during a shooting in Puntas de Manga, Montevideo, in the early hours of Saturday. The attack took place at the intersection of José Belloni Avenue and Canope.

According to a Montevideo police statement, officers were patrolling the area when they heard gunshots and saw several people running nearby. They found the wounded man lying in the street with a woman beside him and took him to a nearby clinic, where he later died.

Police said two masked attackers approached the victim while travelling in a pickup truck. They fired from the vehicle and then fled. Investigators preserved the scene and found five shell casings, along with bullet impacts on two vehicles nearby.

Scientific Police, Investigations officers and the Homicide Department worked at the scene. The Third Turn Homicide Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation.
