Police Investigate Officers for Allegedly Neglecting Report of Missing Elderly Woman

An internal investigation has been launched by the Jakarta Metro Police's Profession and Security Division (Propam) into allegations of negligence against officers at the Pasar Minggu Police Station in South Jakarta. The probe centers on the police's handling of a report concerning the disappearance of an elderly woman, identified as Warisem.

Reports indicate that Warisem was initially found by concerned citizens and subsequently handed over to the Pasar Minggu Police for safekeeping. However, allegations surfaced that police personnel allegedly allowed the elderly woman to leave the station, despite the fact that her family was reportedly en route to pick her up. This alleged lapse in protocol has raised serious questions about the police's duty of care and their response to vulnerable individuals reporting missing persons.

The case is being monitored, and we will proceed with an examination at the Pasar Minggu Police Station of the members who received information from the public, whom we have contacted.

In response to the public outcry and the initiation of the Propam investigation, the Kapolsek (Police Chief) of Pasar Minggu, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, has issued an apology. He confirmed that Warisem has been safely reunited with her family and is in good health. Sinambela assured the public that the police department will conduct a thorough evaluation of its services to ensure better responsiveness and assistance to the community in the future. This incident highlights the critical importance of accountability within law enforcement and the need for robust procedures to protect and assist all members of society, particularly the elderly and vulnerable.
