Police kill kidnapping kingpin, recover gun, N2m in Ogun forest

The Ogun State Police Command has once again demonstrated its effectiveness in combating violent crime, neutralizing a notorious kidnapping kingpin in a swift, intelligence-led operation. This success comes shortly after another significant operation, underscoring the command's relentless pursuit of criminal elements plaguing the state.

The operation followed the successful release of a kidnapping victim who was abducted on the 14th of May 2026 at Nufats Fuel Station along the Abeokuta–Ibadan Expressway, Odeda Area of Ogun State.

The operation, conducted within the Orile-Ilugun Forest axis, was a direct response to a recent abduction. Following the victim's safe release, police operatives intensified their efforts, culminating in a raid on the kidnappers' hideout. The ensuing gun duel saw superior police firepower lead to the neutralization of the gang's leader, while other syndicate members fled.

On sighting the Police operatives, the kidnappers opened fire, resulting in a fierce gun duel.

Beyond neutralizing the threat, the operation yielded crucial evidence, including an AK-47 rifle with ammunition, a substantial sum of N2 million believed to be ransom money, and mobile phones. The recovery of these items will aid further investigations into the criminal network.
