Police Link Money Laundering and Fraud Case to Comanches MC

Danish police have uncovered a significant fraud and money laundering operation that they believe has connections to the Comanches MC biker gang in Esbjerg. The investigation has led to the charging of a 40-year-old man from Esbjerg with money laundering.

The accused man faces charges related to laundering approximately 418,119 kroner. According to the police, this money originates from a specific type of scam known as "Hello Mom" fraud. This scam typically involves a perpetrator sending an SMS from an unknown number, impersonating a child who has lost their phone and urgently needs money to pay a bill, thereby tricking the victim into transferring funds.

So far, the police have identified 69 instances of fraud in the case. The 40-year-old suspect is alleged to have laundered the proceeds through various Danish and foreign bank accounts. Money laundering involves attempts to conceal the criminal origins of funds, often by moving them between accounts.

While the police statement does not explicitly detail a personal connection between the 40-year-old suspect and the Comanches MC in Esbjerg, the investigation is actively exploring this link. "We always investigate broadly in an initial phase, and the preliminary investigation has given us a presumption that the crime is related to the Comanches MC biker group in Esbjerg," stated Deputy Chief Constable Karsten Hulmose. "It is therefore one of the directions our investigation is focusing on."
