Police Officer Fatally Shot by Colleague During Duty in North Sulawesi

A tragic accident has claimed the life of a police officer in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, when he was fatally shot by a colleague during a duty call. Brigadir Satu EM of the Bolaang Mongondow Utara Resort Police died on Sunday, February 28, 2026, after being hit by a firearm discharged by a fellow officer.

The incident unfolded as three officers, led by Brigadir RT, responded to a report of a disturbance involving sharp weapons. Upon arrival, they attempted to apprehend the individuals involved. However, one of the suspects reportedly attacked a colleague of Brigadir RT, identified as Briptu EM.

In the ensuing chaos, Brigadir RT drew his firearm and discharged it towards the suspect. Tragically, the shot struck his colleague, Briptu EM, causing a severe gunshot wound. Despite immediate efforts to provide medical assistance, Briptu EM succumbed to his injuries en route to the Bolaang Mongondow Utara Regional General Hospital and the Bhayangkara Manado Hospital.

Authorities have launched an internal investigation into the shooting to ensure objectivity and transparency. All personnel present at the scene have been questioned. Meanwhile, the police are actively pursuing the two suspects who managed to escape after the incident. One suspect has been apprehended, but two others remain at large.
