Police Officer Shot During Operation in Pachacútec, Ventanilla

A National Police officer was shot on Wednesday morning during an operational task in Pachacútec, Ventanilla, a district in the Callao region. The agent, Suboficial Superior Paulo Tavara Colchado, 56, who serves in the Robbery division of Dirincri Lima, was attacked by two unidentified individuals.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. near the Reniec office in Pachacútec. According to preliminary reports, the officer was engaged in operational duties when the assailants, traveling in a car, opened fire. After the shooting, the suspects fled the area in an unknown direction.

Emergency personnel from Ventanilla's Unit for Emergencies responded to an alert from Central 105 and arrived at the scene. The injured officer was rushed to a local hospital in Ventanilla for immediate medical attention. He sustained gunshot wounds to his chin and left arm.

Due to the nature of his injuries, Tavara Colchado was subsequently transferred to the Central Hospital of the National Police of Peru, Luis N. Sáenz, in Jesús María. Medical reports indicate he was in stable condition at the time of his transfer. Police are now investigating the circumstances of the attack and are working to identify the perpetrators and the motive behind the shooting.
