Police Operation: Two Injured on the Sidelines of AfD Youth Demo

Two individuals sustained injuries during clashes that occurred on the periphery of a rally organized by the AfD's youth wing, Generation Deutschland, in Schwerin. A police spokesperson confirmed that one person received outpatient treatment, while the other was hospitalized. Both injured individuals were associated with the Generation Deutschland group.

The rally, titled "Day of German Youth," drew approximately 400 participants to Schwerin's city center. Simultaneously, nearly 500 counter-demonstrators gathered, attempting to disrupt the AfD youth event with loud chants. Fences were erected to keep the two groups separated. Following the rally, a procession by Generation Deutschland through Schwerin was met with attempts by opponents to block the route, leading to a change in the planned path.

Law enforcement maintained a significant presence throughout the Schweriner city center. Police officers from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as reinforcements from Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, were deployed. The police presence aimed to manage the tensions between the supporters of Generation Deutschland and the counter-demonstrators.
