Police raid Quito hideout linked to alleged drug traffickers and gang figure

Ecuadorian police conducted a raid on a house in San Roque, Quito's historic center, on Thursday, deploying approximately 150 officers. Authorities claim the property was used by individuals involved in micro-trafficking and linked to Fabricio Colón Pico, a figure associated with the Los Lobos criminal organization.

The operation is part of the government's "Plan de Protección de Quito," aimed at increasing police and military presence in the capital. During the raid on the two-story, partially abandoned house, officers discovered passports of questionable origin and what appeared to be provisional vehicle license plates. These items were found inside commercial spaces operating under the guise of cell phone repair shops.

Fabricio Colón Pico, also known as 'Capitán Pico' or 'Salvaje,' has been detained since 2024. U.S. authorities have identified him as a former leader of Los Lobos in Pichincha province. The recovered documents and plates will undergo forensic analysis to determine their origin and authenticity. Police Commander Pablo Vinicio Dávila stated that operations are focused on areas identified as critical due to high crime rates, with San Roque being a zone of influence for Los Lobos.
