Police recover pistols, cult caps from abandoned motorcycle in Anambra

Anambra State Police Command has reported a significant recovery of illicit items following a patrol operation in Awka North Local Government Area. Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit discovered two locally fabricated pistols and three caps bearing inscriptions linked to the Vikings Confraternity from an abandoned motorcycle.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when officers on routine patrol along the Isuaniocha Bridge noticed two young men riding a black Sanyang motorcycle without a registration number. Upon seeing the police team, the riders made a sudden, reckless turn, attempting to evade the officers. This suspicious action prompted a pursuit.

The Anambra State Police Command has recorded another significant feat during a routine patrol operation with operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit. During the operation, the team recovered two fabricated pistols and three caps bearing an inscription associated with a secret cult from an abandoned motorcycle in Awka North Local Government Area.

During the chase, the suspects lost control of the motorcycle, fell, and abandoned it along with two slippers and a bag before escaping into a nearby bush. A subsequent search of the abandoned bag led to the discovery of the firearms and the cult-affiliated caps.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the recovery and stated that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects. The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has directed operatives to intensify their pursuit. The command remains committed to sustained patrols and intelligence-led operations to disrupt criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents across the state.
