Police search own agency over officer's alleged drunk driving hit-and-run

Authorities have conducted searches at multiple police facilities in Daegu as part of an investigation into a drunk driving hit-and-run incident involving a serving police officer. These locations are involved in the investigation of a police sergeant, identified as 'A', who is accused of driving under the influence and fleeing the scene after colliding with parked vehicles in a residential area of Suseong District on July 9. Sergeant 'A' is affiliated with the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency.

A police official stated that the search was initiated to ensure the integrity of the investigation, with a different police station taking the lead to avoid any potential conflicts of interest or improprieties. The official declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
