Police separate Pride Caravan from hostile youths in Zajecar

In Zajecar, Serbia, police established two cordons on Tuesday evening to keep participants of the Pride Caravan separate from a group of young men who were shouting hostile slogans. The activists, who had unfurled rainbow flags in front of the courthouse, carried the central message that "there is room for everyone in Zajecar."

Organizers had kept the time and location of the gathering private for security reasons. Despite these precautions, a significant police presence was noted in the city square. The Pride Caravan also visited Kraljevo on the same day, where a smaller group of men, separated by a police cordon, chanted and threw stones and eggs at the attendees, which included activists, members of the LGBT+ community, and journalists. Following the incident, police quickly shut down the rally and escorted the participants away.

Footage shared online showed men throwing stones while police appeared not to intervene. This follows a pattern of disruption; a recent Pride Caravan event in Pirot was canceled due to a tense atmosphere created by opposing groups gathering in the square, leading to a security assessment that participants' safety was at risk.
