Police to question 15-20 witnesses in Nørresundby shooting case

North Jutland Police anticipate interviewing at least 15 to 20 witnesses as their investigation into a shooting incident in Nørresundby progresses. A 48-year-old man is currently charged with the murder of another man and the attempted murder of a police officer.

Vice Police Inspector Niels Kronborg stated that some witnesses were present at the scene and can provide significant details, while others may have arrived later. He clarified that the number of witnesses does not necessarily reflect the number of people present at the exact moment of the incident, and more witnesses may come forward.

The incident began Friday afternoon when police responded to a fire at a car paint shop in an industrial area. Upon arrival, officers were fired upon. Police returned fire, hitting both the suspected perpetrator and an officer. A 62-year-old man was subsequently found dead at the scene. The deceased and the suspect reportedly had no prior relationship, according to initial police information.

The 48-year-old suspect appeared in court Saturday, admitting to killing the 62-year-old man. He also acknowledged firing at the police but denies intending to kill the officer. A significant amount of investigative work remains, including thorough examination of the crime scene, which includes a burnt-out section of the workshop, and analysis of various technical evidence secured by investigators.
