Police to Question Wife of Fredy Pratama Network Suspect

Indonesian authorities are set to interrogate Petra Niasi, the wife of Frans Antony, who is a suspect in a major drug trafficking case linked to the notorious Fredy Pratama network. The couple was brought to Indonesia from Malaysia on Friday, following Antony's arrest.

Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), confirmed that Petra Niasi would be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. He indicated that investigators suspect Petra may have accompanied her husband during his flight after he was declared a fugitive in 2023. However, she has not yet been formally charged.

Petra Niasi's name reportedly surfaced in a 2023 Tempo report detailing the international drug syndicate's structure, where she and her husband were identified as financial operatives for Fredy Pratama. Frans Antony, now a formal suspect, is expected to undergo intensive questioning. Both were seen arriving at the Bareskrim Polri headquarters, with Frans Antony appearing handcuffed.

Santoso noted that as the couple had only recently arrived, the investigation was in its early stages. Further developments are expected within one to two weeks. This case is part of a broader effort by Indonesian police, which since 2020 has been dismantling Fredy Pratama's extensive drug network. Previous operations have led to the arrest of 884 suspects and the uncovering of 408 police reports.
