Police transfer suspect in Seoul officetel murder case

Police have sent a man to prosecutors on charges of robbery-murder and violating drug laws in connection with the death of a woman in her 50s at an officetel in Seoul's Gangbuk district. The suspect, identified by the initial 'A', is accused of killing the woman in the early hours of March 28.

Initially, police charged 'A' with murder. However, after reviewing financial transaction records, crime scene evidence, and other investigative materials, they determined that 'A' intended to rob the victim, leading to the charge of robbery-murder. The suspect reportedly admits to the murder and drug-related charges but denies any motive of robbery.

During the investigation, drugs were found at the crime scene. A preliminary drug test on 'A' also yielded positive results for methamphetamine and marijuana. He was arrested on March 30 for murder and violating the Narcotics Control Act.

Police stated that they will continue to cooperate with prosecutors for any necessary supplementary investigations following the transfer.
