Police Trust Fund empowers spouses of junior officers

The Nigerian Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has initiated a vocational skills acquisition and empowerment program specifically designed for the spouses of junior police officers. This program aims to bolster the welfare of police families and, by extension, strengthen the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.

Today’s event is more than the launch of a new programme. It is a demonstration of our belief that the welfare of every police officer is closely linked to the well-being of the family that stands behind him or her.

During the program's flag-off in Abuja, Mohammed Sheidu, the Executive Secretary of the NPTF, highlighted that the initiative is geared towards fostering economic self-reliance among police families through targeted vocational training and the provision of start-up packs. The program is being rolled out simultaneously in various states across the country and directly supports President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on economic empowerment and inclusive development.

Sheidu emphasized that the program signifies a belief in the interconnectedness of an officer's welfare and their family's well-being. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by officers and their families, stating that empowering these families is crucial for building a more robust police institution. The NPTF has consistently invested in police training and infrastructure, but recognizes that supporting officers' families is equally vital.
