Police Uncover LPG Refilling Scheme in Indramayu, Suspect Made Tens of Millions Rupiah

Authorities in Indramayu, West Java, have successfully dismantled a sophisticated operation that illegally refilled subsidized 3 kg LPG gas cylinders into larger, non-subsidized 12 kg tanks. This criminal enterprise not only defrauded consumers but also caused significant financial losses to the state, amounting to tens of millions of rupiah.

The Indramayu Police, led by AKBP Mochamad Fajar Gemilang, apprehended a suspect, identified only as RW, in the Gantar sub-district. The operation, which began with a tip-off about the misuse of subsidized gas, culminated in the discovery of numerous 3 kg cylinders and the necessary equipment for the illegal refilling process.

This case highlights a persistent issue in Indonesia where subsidized goods, intended for lower-income households, are often diverted for profit.
