Police vehicle damaged during stolen car intercept

A police vehicle sustained damage in Wailoku, Fiji, during an operation to intercept a stolen car yesterday. The incident began on Thursday when a vehicle was reported stolen from Davuilevu Housing, triggering an all-points bulletin for officers to locate it.

The stolen vehicle was subsequently spotted in Lami and later in Wailoku. Officers from the Eastern Division Crime Intelligence, Southern Division Operations, and Quick Response Teams were deployed to the area. Upon sighting the vehicle, they initiated a pursuit.

The car was reportedly driven by an individual with a known criminal history. The suspect attempted to evade capture, but police officers used a police vehicle to block the car's path, resulting in a collision. The police vehicle sustained damage during this maneuver.

The suspect was apprehended following the incident and is currently in custody. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
