Police will respect citizens under my watch, new Edo CP vows

The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Patrick Daor, has pledged to ensure that police operatives treat the state's residents with respect under his leadership. Daor made this commitment during the official handover ceremony at the state police headquarters in Benin, where he took over from his predecessor, Monday Agbonika.

More importantly, I will ensure that every policeman has respect for every citizen of this state. We will work towards winning more of the trust of the good people of this state. And we will maintain a very open-door policy.

Daor also vowed to intensify the command's crime-fighting strategies by refining existing approaches and building upon the successes achieved under Agbonika's tenure. He stressed the importance of mutual respect between police officers and citizens, stating, "More importantly, I will ensure that every policeman has respect for every citizen of this state. We will work towards winning more of the trust of the good people of this state."

Emphasizing an open-door policy, the new CP invited contributions from the public, noting that policing is a collective responsibility. He assured that any issues brought to his attention would be handled with the utmost professionalism. Daor also highlighted plans to make the Edo State Police Command highly mobile, ensuring personnel respond promptly to matters affecting residents.

Wherever there are issues that you think I should be informed of, please don’t hesitate. Let me know. And that issue will be handled with the utmost professionalism.

His predecessor, Agbonika, reported that crime had been reduced to a minimum during his tenure. He expressed gratitude to the command's personnel, spiritual leaders, and the Edo State Government for their support.
