Polish Analyst: PiS May Form Alliance with Grzegorz Braun's Movement Post-2027 Elections

A future realignment of Poland's right-wing political landscape could be more complex than current statements suggest, according to political analyst Professor Antoni Dudek. He posits that despite Jarosław Kaczyński's present opposition to Grzegorz Braun, a collaboration between their respective political circles might emerge after the 2027 elections.

Professor Dudek pointed to historical examples, such as the Law and Justice (PiS) party's past cooperation with Samoobrona despite earlier resolutions against it, to illustrate how firm declarations can sometimes yield to political expediency. "Experience tells me that nothing can be ruled out," Dudek stated, while also acknowledging potential U.S. concerns regarding Braun's anti-American and antisemitic rhetoric should he be part of a government.

Dudek also outlined a scenario involving indirect cooperation, where Braun's movement could support a government without his direct participation. He identified Marek Woch, leader of the Non-Partisan Local Government Officials, as a key figure who has already built a bridge by forming an agreement with Braun's circle and then participating in the Senate pact negotiations with PiS. "The first small bridge has already been built, and there will be more," Dudek predicted.

Furthermore, Dudek suggested that a potential rivalry between Jarosław Kaczyński and President Karol Nawrocki could shape the future right-wing alliance. If a pact involving PiS, Konfederacja, Korona, and smaller right-wing groups were to form under Nawrocki's patronage, the president could gain significant influence over the government's direction. "Kaczyński fears this, because Kaczyński wants to remain the architect of this new right-wing alliance," Dudek explained.
