Polish Coalition to Challenge Presidential Vetoes on Crypto and Partnership Laws

Poland's ruling coalition is preparing to confront President Andrzej Duda over his vetoes on key legislation, specifically targeting regulations for the cryptocurrency market and laws concerning partnerships. The move signals a potential clash between the government and the presidency over legislative priorities.

After consultation within the October 15 coalition, I made the decision to introduce a vote on the veto regarding cryptocurrencies at this Sejm session.

Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty announced that the coalition will bring the veto on the cryptocurrency bill to a vote in the upcoming parliamentary session. He described the veto as an attempt to block actions associated with "mafia activities, murder, bribery, and deception." Czarzasty directly challenged President Duda, questioning the motivations behind his repeated vetoes of the cryptocurrency legislation.

This is not the first time the coalition has attempted to override a presidential veto on the cryptocurrency bill, having failed in a previous attempt. The president has vetoed the bill three times. The coalition also plans to challenge the veto on the law concerning the status of a next of kin, often referred to as a partnership law.

If it comes to this veto, which will be voted on next week: rejecting the president's veto is actually rejecting actions of the mafia with murder in the background. It is rejecting bribery in relation to political parties and in relation to people. It is rejecting cover-ups regarding the procedure for this law. It is actually rejecting permission to deceive people.

Czarzasty expressed strong disapproval of the president's actions, suggesting that the repeated vetoes might not be coincidental. The coalition's efforts to overturn these vetoes underscore their commitment to advancing these legislative measures, despite presidential opposition.
